About the AA103W

Where the AA103W fits

Piping, fittings and line-set accessories are code-driven: material, size and pressure rating have to match the fuel or refrigerant they carry and the local mechanical code. The AA103W is stocked for the installer who needs the right fitting today, not a substitute that passes at first but fails inspection.

Refrigerant piping and gas piping look similar on the shelf and are not interchangeable: refrigeration copper is cleaned and capped to keep moisture and debris out of the system, and gas fittings are rated and listed for fuel service. Using the right one is a code requirement, not a preference.

Background reading: EPA Section 608 refrigerant rules.

What to check before you order

• Size and material match the pipe or tubing you are joining.
• Refrigeration-grade (ACR) copper and fittings for refrigerant lines; CSST or black iron per code for gas.
• Pressure rating and listing for the application.
• Thread sealant or brazing alloy compatible with the fuel or refrigerant.

Installation and service notes

Cut copper square and deburred, braze with nitrogen flowing to keep the inside of the joint clean, and pressure-test with nitrogen before pulling a vacuum. Gas piping is sized by length and load from the code tables, sealed with a sealant rated for the fuel, and leak-tested at the code pressure before the meter is turned on.
