About the ZLP16254

Where the ZLP16254 fits

The filter protects the blower and coil as much as the people in the house. A filter that is the wrong size lets air bypass around the frame; one with too high a MERV rating for the blower starves the system of airflow. The ZLP16254 should be matched by actual (not nominal) dimensions and by the MERV rating the equipment manufacturer allows.

Filtration is a balance between capturing particles and letting air through. Pleated filters trap far more than fiberglass throwaways, but every step up in MERV adds resistance, so the equipment manufacturer’s maximum rating is the ceiling — not a target to beat.

What to check before you order

• Actual dimensions versus nominal — measure the old filter.
• MERV rating your equipment is rated for.
• Replacement interval: most 1-inch filters every 1–3 months, media cabinets every 6–12.

Installation and service notes

Install filters with the airflow arrow pointing toward the blower, seal the filter rack so air cannot bypass, and keep a spare on hand. If the system struggles for airflow after a filter change, step down one MERV rating rather than removing the filter.
